The Dallas Stars are preparing for the 2025-26 NHL season with Tyler Seguin fully healthy, and his resurgence could change their offensive depth in a big way.

Seguin played just 20 regular‑season games in 2024-25 before undergoing hip surgery in early December for a left femoral acetabular impingement and labral tear.
That surgery sidelined him for over four months, and when he returned on April 16, 2025, he assisted on the Stars' first goal just 16 seconds into the game against Nashville.
Seguin closed the postseason with 8 points (4 goals, 4 assists) over 18 playoff games, tied for third on the team in playoff scoring.

How Tyler Seguin's return from hip surgery transformed his playoff impact and matters for the Dallas Stars

Former coach Pete DeBoer praised Seguin's behind‑the‑scenes rehab efforts, noting that regaining full form required major work off the ice.
When he came back for the playoffs, Seguin gave Dallas an extra spark.
He came up big in clutch moments, like Game 1 of the Western Conference Final against Edmonton, where he scored a goal and added an assist to help shift the momentum.
Those plays not only brought energy to the Stars' lineup but also took some of the burden off Jason Robertson and Wyatt Johnston, letting the younger forwards focus more on creating chances instead of carrying the full load.
Looking ahead, Seguin feels like a swing factor for Dallas.
If he stays healthy through camp, analysts believe he can slide back into a top-six role and chase the 30-goal mark again in 2025.
As NHL.com recently noted, Seguin's speed and conditioning already look closer to what they were before surgery, which gives Dallas a chance to spread out its offense instead of leaning on one or two lines.
I think if Seguin plays anywhere near that level, the Stars could feel a lot more dangerous when the season begins.
