On a recent episode of the DLLS Stars Podcast, the hosts broke down exactly why DeSmith might get more starts than expected.
«If DeSmith gives you 35 games and you keep Oettinger fresh for the playoffs, that's the move,» one host explained. «We're not talking about a tandem, we're talking about a smart long-season strategy.»

DeSmith signed with Dallas in 2024 on a three-year deal worth $3 million.
Last season, he only made 17 starts-but now with Scott Wedgewood gone and Matt Murray recovering from injury, DeSmith is the clear No. 2.
The 33-year-old has a career .906 save percentage across 152 NHL games, with several seasons logging over 30 appearances.
With a strong defense led by Miro Heiskanen and Thomas Harley in front of him, DeSmith is in position to succeed.
«He doesn't have to steal games. He just needs to hold the net when called,» said another DLLS Stars Podcast host.
I honestly think if DeSmith stays consistent, this might be one of the sneakiest assets in Dallas' Cup pursuit.
