After spending the last two seasons outside the National Hockey League, 35-year-old Artem Anisimov is looking to make a return.

According to CapFriendly, Anisimov has signed a professional tryout contract (PTO) with the Detroit Red Wings and will join the team later this week for training camp and preseason games.

Anisimov, a veteran of 771 career NHL games, has spent parts of 13 seasons in the league with the New York Rangers, Columbus Blue Jackets, Chicago Blackhawks and Ottawa Senators, where he's put up 376 points (180 goals, 196 assists).

Two years ago, Anisimov signed a PTO with the Colorado Avalanche, but it was unsuccessful and he headed to Russia to play in the KHL. Meanwhile, last season, he went down the PTO route again, this time with the Philadelphia Flyers. He didn't make the Flyers roster, but signed an AHL deal with their affiliate in December 2022, where he went on to appear in 55 games and recorded 36 points.
