Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid let his frustration boil over during the third period of Monday's game against the Vancouver Canucks. With the Oilers down 4-2 in the third period McDavid found himself in two scrums. While Zach Hyman and J.T. Miller were fighting, McDavid got tangled up with Philip Di Giuseppe along the boards.

Later on in the period McDavid lays a late crosscheck on Pius Sutter after he fired the puck on goal. Another scrum ensued with McDavid going to the box for a two-minute minor for roughing against Suter, while Leon Draisaitl was given a 10-minute miss conduct.

Vancouver would go on to score two more goals in the period, handing the Oilers their third straight loss dropping their record to 2-8-1. Only the winless San Jose Sharks have been worse with a 0-10-1 record.

The pressure is becoming overwhelming for the team with multiple players getting involved in the extracurricular activities after the whistle. Head coach Jay Woodcroft was ejected from the game late in the period for his unsportsmanlike behavior toward the referee.

McDavid felt the Oilers did a lot of good things in the game when speaking to the media post-game, but frustrated with the end result.

«Obviously frustrating,» Oilers captain Connor McDavid said. «I felt like we did a lot of good things in the first period and found ourselves down and chasing things.»

The Oilers will look to bounce back on Thursday when they face the winless Sharks.
