Sheldon Keefe sends major message to Ryan Reaves
When the Toronto Maple Leafs signed Ryan Reaves, the fan base was excited as was the organization. Reaves one of the toughest players in the National Hockey League up to this point signalled one thing, they won't be pushed around.
Early in the season outside of the first 2 games where he fought, Reaves hasn't been a factor. Tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Maple Leaf head coach Sheldon Keefe sent a message to Reaves by benching him; take a look.
The broadcast team just indicated that Ryan Reaves may be benched.. Ohhh boy, this signing may become an ugly one in a hurry. 2 more years after this one.
Reaves, 36, signed a 3 year contract in the off-season worth 1.35 million per and if this is any indication, it could be a long 3 years. His last shift came 7:59 left in the second and he played just 4:32.
Is the Reaves experiment coming to an end in Toronto already? It seems like he's on thin ice if he doesn't do the one thing he was brought in to do a lot more often.
