It doesn't take an expert to know the Edmonton Oilers need goaltending. And they needed it yesterday. It appears general manager Ken Holland is looking, but fans might not be overly excited over who he's eyeing.

According to Reid Wilkins of 630 CHED in Edmonton, Holland is interested in Stanley Cup champion Jordan Binnington of the St. Louis Blues.

There's no denying Binnington's role in the Blues Stanley Cup win in 2019. It simply would not have happened without him. In fact, St. Louis was dead last in the entire league around halfway through the season before bringing in Binnington and going on an absolute tear that brought them all the way to the finals.

Binnington got a big new contract after his Cup win, and still has three seasons left on it after this one at an annual cap hit of $6 million. Simply put, salary would need to be shed before Binnington could be brought in. At this point in time, Holland just might be desperate enough to do it. Missing the playoffs this season will almost certainly mean he's out the door.
