Former National Hockey League forward Esa Tikkanen is in the middle of a legal battle in Finland and to pay for certain fees, he's auctioning off some of the most important memorabilia from his career.

For those who are unaware, Tikkanen is facing aggravated tax fraud charges in Finland and last month, a hearing was scheduled but was then postponed to a later date, which has yet to be set.

In 2023, Tikkanen even had some of his belongings seized by Finnish authorities, according to Hockey Worldwide on Instagram. The value of his property that was seized was worth 168,000 Euros ($182,406 USD). Eventually, that ruling was overturned and he had his property returned to him.

"Last year, he had 168,000 euros of property seized by Finnish authorities, but that was overturned." Hockey Worldwide said.

Tikkanen, 59, has put four of his Stanley Cup rings up for auction including three from his time with the Edmonton Oilers and his 1994 ring from the New York Rangers. The only ring that Tikkanen has decided to keep is from his first Stanley Cup championship with the Edmonton Oilers in 1985.

Along with his Stanley Cup rings, two of Tikkanen's game-worn jerseys are up for auction. One is from his time with the New York Rangers in 1993-94 and the other is a game-worn jersey from the Stanley Cup Final in 1998 when he was playing for the Washington Capitals.

All of Tikkanen's memorabilia that's up for auction can be found at Classicauctions.ca. The bidding is already underway, with the starting bid for his each of his four Stanley Cup rings set at $5,000 USD.
