Panthers forward and assistant captain Matthew Tkachuk revealed the shocking injuries he played through shortly after winning his 2nd straight Stanley Cup.

For the 2nd straight year, the Florida Panthers are Stanley Cup champions. They repeated as hockey's best team yet again with a series win over the Edmonton Oilers, who once again must now endure a lengthy and disappointing plane ride back home to Alberta.
Shortly after the game was over, Panthers assistant captain Matthew Tkachuk revealed the shocking injuries that he played through during the postseason.
Matthew Tkachuk says he tore the adductor off the bone and was dealing with a hernia on the same side of his body, and wasn't sure if he would be able to play to start these playoffs.

Tkachuk says grinding through all that makes this Stanley Cup more rewarding.
Tkachuk, who scored as part of Florida's 5-1 win over Edmonton on Tuesday, also said that while he had considered not playing, he felt he felt he owed it to his teammates to continue on through the pain.
I wanted to throw in the towel a bunch of times. I just owe the doctors so much. I really didn't think I'd be playing and or at least playing to my capabilities so the longer the playoffs went, the better I felt, and I owe that to the guys for giving me some wiggle room to feel good.

Tkachuk is now a 2x Stanley Cup winner, having been to the Cup Final 3 times in a row since being acquired by the Panthers in the blockbuster 2022 trade for Jonathan Huberdeau and MacKenzie Weegar.
While their 1st trip to the Final in 2023 ended in disappointment to the Vegas Golden Knights, the Panthers have now won consecutive Cups over the Oilers.
