The Eastern Conference Final of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs is all tied up at 2 after the Florida Panthers defeated the New York Rangers in overtime last night 3-2. This series is getting heated as things go along, and one of the Panthers may be facing discipline from the NHL's Department of Player Safety for his actions.
Near the end of the third period in game 4, Jacob Trouba, who has been a force for the Rangers all through the playoffs so far, gave Sam Reinhart a light crosscheck to the back. Reinhart has seemingly had enough of Trouba, and smacked the defenseman in the face with the butt end of his stick.
For Panthers fans that complained, the crosscheck from Trouba was also posted.
There was no call on the play, but that doesn't mean DoPS won't be taking a look. For those thinking it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy, Player Safety doesn't care about what Trouba might have done in games previous. Reinhart will be lucky to escape without a fine or other punishment.
