After suffering his fourth ACL tear back in April while with the Minnesota Wild, it was unclear what the future may hold in terms of professional hockey for Mason Shaw.

Given that Shaw is only 24-years-old and has already torn his ACL four separate times, it would likely scare many teams away and it's not impossible to think that he career could have been over.

Despite all the adversity, Shaw wanted to return to play professional hockey and that's exactly what he'll do for the 2023-24 season.

On Tuesday, the Iowa Wild, AHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, announced that they've agreed to terms on a one-year, one-way contract with Mason Shaw.

Shaw, a native of Wainwright, Alberta, spent the majority of the 2022-23 season in the NHL with Minnesota, where he appeared in 59 games and put up 17 points (seven goals, ten assists). He scored his first goal in the National Hockey League on October 30th against the Chicago Blackhawks.

It's going to be interesting to see how Shaw does this season and how his knee holds up, but let's all hope he'll be able to stay healthy and return to the National Hockey League one day.
