Maroon on being called fat by Nick Cousins: 'You think I give a f--k?'
During the offseason, the Tampa Bay Lightning decided that it was time to part ways with tough guy Patrick Maroon and traded him to the Minnesota Wild.
Earlier in October, the Minnesota Wild were taking on the Florida Panthers and after a whistle, Maroon got into it with Nick Cousins, both of whom know each other quite well from playing in the same division last season.
After the whistle, Cousins called Pat Maroon a 'fat ass', which led the Wild forward to go off on an hilarious rant of sorts.
"Oh, I'm fat! Good one! You think I give a f--k? I'm still in the same league as you. Cool. Come up with something different. Come up with something different." Maroon said.
The 35-year-old is off to a great start to his first season in the 'State of Hockey' and is nearly a point-per-game player, which seems crazy to even think about. In nine games, Maroon has seven points (one goal, six assists), along with 11 penalty minutes and is a plus-one.
It'll be interesting to keep an eye on how Maroon does as the 2023-24 season goes on. The Minnesota Wild haven't had a great start to the new campaign, but it's early, and they have aspirations of making the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but if they fall out of the race before the trade deadline, they could move Maroon, who's in the final year of his contract, to a contending team.
