The Minnesota Wild and head coach John Hynes have officially integrated their newest depth piece into the locker room.

After being claimed off waivers from the St. Louis Blues on Monday, veteran forward Robby Fabbri has been assigned jersey number 21 for his tenure in the State of Hockey.
The move comes at a critical juncture for Bill Guerin, who had to act fast following a lower-body injury to Marcus Foligno.
Fabbri, a former first-round pick with a Stanley Cup ring from 2019, brings much-needed "solid execution" to a bottom-six that has struggled with consistent offensive output this season.
The 30-year-old winger has had a turbulent season so far, recording just one goal and four points in 15 games with the Blues. However, Guerin is betting on Fabbri's veteran poise and his ability to contribute to the transition game, especially given his affordable $775,000 cap hit.
Minnesota currently sits in a heated battle for the Central Division lead, trailing the Dallas Stars by a single point. Adding a player who has reached the 15-goal mark four times in his career provides a low-risk, high-reward "bump" as the March 6 deadline looms.

Can Fabbri rediscover his scoring touch in Minnesota?

Fabbri has spent time in the NHL with St. Louis, Detroit and Anaheim over the last two seasons, but injuries have frequently hampered his momentum. If he can stay healthy, his arrival allows Hynes to keep his top lines intact while bolstering the fourth-line's grit and faceoff efficiency.
The Wild are coming off a quiet Olympic break where Guerin was focused on Team USA's gold medal run. Now back in the GM chair, this waiver claim signals that the Wild are looking for every possible marginal gain to compete with the Colorado Avalanche.
Expect Fabbri to make his debut later this week as the road trip continues. He'll look to provide a "clean slate" for a checking line that needs to find its identity before the postseason gauntlet begins.
