Canadiens forward reportedly not cleared to play following surgery
The Montreal Canadiens held their annual golf tournament, which is used as the unofficial kick-off to training camp for the organization.
Every year, plenty of news comes from the event as General Manager Kent Hughes and all the players speak to the media. Last year, the Canadiens used the golf tournament to name Nick Suzuki captain and this year, it was revealed that Mike Matheson will wear an 'A' on his chest replacing Joel Edmundson, who was traded to Washington in July.
While speaking with the media, Kent Hughes have an update on the status of his roster heading into training camp and said that forward Christian Dvorak has not been cleared to return to the ice.
"Kent Hughes says everyone clear to start with Habs, except for Christian Dvorak, who has to go through his medical and meet with his surgeon one more time."
Dvorak, 27, underwent knee surgery in March and went on to miss the remainder of the 2022-23 season. He suffered the injury during a shootout loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on March 7th.
The Palos Heights, Illinois native appeared in 64 games this season for the Canadiens where he put up 28 points (ten goals, 18 assists), six penalty minutes and was a minus-12.
The Canadiens will open training camp next week before opening their preseason schedule on September 25th against the New Jersey Devils.
