The Montreal Canadiens opened up their preseason schedule on Monday night at the Bell Centre against the New Jersey Devils.

Several regulars were in the lineup including Josh Anderson, Juraj Slafkovsky, Kaiden Guhle, as well as goaltender Samuel Montembeault, who gave up a very early 'worst goal of the year' candidate in the second period.

While on the powerplay, New Jersey Devils defenceman Simon Nemec dumped the puck into the Canadiens zone, where it bounced off the boards and came towards Samuel Montembeault, who was right up against the post. The puck then hits the blade of Montembeault's skate, rolls up his back side and goes into the net to give the Devils a 2-1 lead.

It's safe to say that Montembeault will want to have that one back and although it's just a preseason game, he's likely not very happy with himself that the puck found its way into the net.

Montembeault's night ended six minutes later, as was planned prior to puck drop, with 22-year-old Jakub Dobes coming in for the last 30 minutes of the game.
