You have to think there will be more punishment coming, but for now, a former NHLer has been kicked from a game in Switzerland following a hit that was just downright dirty and vicious.
Laurent Dauphin is currently playing with Ambri-Piotta of the Swiss National League. During a game Friday against Rapperswil-Jona, Dauphin's teammate was hit hard while coming into the offensive zone with the puck, and no one on Ambri-Piotta was happy about. A few seconds later, Dauphin laid out Tyler Moy in the corner with a nasty, unnecessary hit. It's a crosscheck from behind and to the neck, with Dauphin jumping into Moy. After that, the two teams got into at the bench for a bit. The officials reviewed the play and decided Dauphin was done for the night.
With the game misconduct, a review by the National League's Disciplinary Committee is triggered. Dauphin managed 94 games in the NHL between 2015 and 2023 with the Arizona Coyotes and Montreal Canadiens. He found no takers in NHL free agency this summer, and headed to Europe.
