Montreal Canadiens in Mourning After Tragic Loss in Brendan Gallagher's Family

Beloved Montreal Canadiens veteran Brendan Gallagher announced heartbreaking news today, as his mother Della has passed away from brain cancer.
This heartbreaking update comes only a few days after the birth of Gallagher's firstborn with wife Emma Fortin, Everly.
The newborn's middle names, Mona and Della, honour her two grandmothers.
Gallagher took to Instagram to make this emotional statement:
The best mom we could have had! Grateful for all the amazing memories we have. I will cherish them and remember them always .
Not a day will go by I won't want to pick up the phone and call you, or give you a big hug tell you I love you. But we will all charge on with everything you taught us making you proud every single day.

On Tuesday night, Gallagher had his best game of the season, potting an empty net goal at the end. His emotional celebration, where he tapped his heart, was a beautiful gesture in honour of his mother.
This performance helped the Canadiens get back into a playoff spot, and their odds to make the playoffs this season are higher than ever. Gallagher is using the love and admiration he has for his mother in the best way to honour her; by playing the game they both loved.
