The Nashville Predators and St. Louis Blues are fierce rivals, and two hits in their latest showdown are likely leading to a suspension after plenty of chaos involving two massive hits to the head.
With the Stanley Cup Playoffs right on the horizon, things are heating up in the NHL, and on Tuesday night we saw an incredibly competitive Central Division showdown, with the St. Louis Blues taking down the Nashville Predators 4-1.
Things kicked off when Michael McCarron took a run at Blues veteran Pavel Buchenevich, with a direct hit to the head that earned him a five-minute major, and likely a suspension from the NHL's Department of Player Safety.
After the call from the officials, McCarron was clearly frustrated, and he let that frustration out as he left the game, throwing his equipment and letting some steam off as he walked down the tunnel.
Unsurprisingly, the Blues weren't going to take that laying down, as Tyler Tucker would get his revenge on Luke Evangelista with an illegal check to the head, causing absolute chaos between two fierce rivals.
While Tucker only got a two-minute minor for his hit, it was clearly just as dangerous as the one that led to McCarron's five-minute major, with things on the verge of blowing up in this rivalry game completely.
Ultimately though, things would cool down significantly after this as the Blues cruised to a victory that has them sitting in a Wild Card spot in the Western Conference, and as for McCarron, it's likely that he'll hear from the NHL's DoPS as they continue to crack down on forceful, intentional contact to the head, which he clearly showed on his hit.
