Last week, they dealt defenseman Damon Severson to the Columbus Blue Jackets and now they have locked up one of their restricted free agents for the next eight seasons.

Today the team announced they'd signed Jesper Bratt, a former 6th round pick to an 8-year $63,000,000 deal.

Hearing NJ and Jesper Bratt are closing in on an 8-year extension with a $7.875M AAV. Do the math and it's $63M — which happens to be Bratt's jersey number.
