Alex Pietrangelo opens up about the heartbreaking reason he nearly retired earlier this season
The Vegas Golden Knights won the Stanley Cup on Tuesday night after blowing out the Florida Panthers 9-3 in game 5, but one of their best defenders just revealed that he almost wasn't around to lift the Cup.
According to Mike Ziesberger of NHL.com, Alex Pietrangelo almost called it a career earlier this season after his daughter had a very serious health scare; take a look.
Family is the most important thing in this world and after Pietrangelos daughter was unable to eat, speak or walk due to a brain lesion, I can only imagine hockey was the last thing on his mind.
Fast forward a few months and Pietrangelo and his daughter who has made a fantastic recovery were both on the ice celebrating their Stanley Cup victory together.
One has to wonder at 33, after 15 seasons and 2 Stanley Cups with nothing left to prove does Pietrangelo walk away from the National Hockey League with his head held high?
Only time will tell and with his daughter continuing to recover, maybe he feels like he doesn't have to retire, but at this point in his career, no one would blame him if he did.
