New York Rangers close to naming former Stanley Cup Champion as next Head Coach
The New York Rangers have been looking for a new coach since their season ended prematurely, losing to the New Jersey Devils in the first round of the playoffs. After what seems like an exhaustive search, it looks like they've found their new bench boss.
According to Forever Blue Shirts on Twitter, the New York Rangers are getting set to name Peter Laviolette as their new head coach; take a look.
Sounds more and more like Peter Laviolette as next #NYR head coach. Announcement could be next week before start of Stanley Cup Final.
Laviolette has been on the market since mid-April when he was surprisingly let go by the Washington Capitals after failing to make the postseason for the first time in his tenure.
Maybe Laviolette and a fresh outlook would be good for the New York Rangers after all, he has won a Stanley Cup and is only 1 of 10 coaches in NHL history to reach the 700-win mark.
