The Rangers post-season hopes are all but gone, and now a shocking admission from coach Peter Laviolette has raised major questions over his future.
That loss came just hours after Head Coach Peter Laviolette admitted that he was disappointed with his teams play this season, and now, he's made an even more shocking admission after their latest loss.
When Laviolette was asked about his message to the team after a game like this, he revealed that somehow, the Head Coach of the team doesn't go into the locker room after a game, win or lose.
"I don't have a message right now. I don't go into the locker room after the game."
As a fan quickly pointed out in the comments, this is along the same lines of John Tortorella's comments and actions when he was looking to get fired, and with the team set to miss the post-season after making the Eastern Conference Finals a year ago, it's unlikely he'll remain in New York for long.
It's unclear if that was the plan for Laviolette or if this is a normal occurence in the Rangers locker room, but for most successful NHL teams, this would not happen at all, so don't be shocked to see him fired very quickly once the 2024/25 season is over.
That won't fix all of New York's problems, as this is a team that still can't get the best out of their young players and has questions all over the roster, but the way that Laviolette has coached them this season, him being gone will certainly be a move that makes plenty of fans (and likely some players) very happy.
