The Rangers have taken a step back this year, and after the fans have called out Peter Laviolette, star Artemi Panarin has now joined in with a surprise shot.

After making the Eastern Conference Finals twice in the past three years, but in 2024/25 they've taken a major step back, and with the way the team have treated their younger players, it's easy to see why.
Even with the team changing their roster to accommodate more veteran names, the team have continued to struggle as they sit outside the Wild Card race in the Eastern Conference, and unsurprisingly, it's brought plenty of heat down on Head Coach Peter Laviolette.
Now, the topic of young players was recently brought up to veteran star Artemi Panarin, and it appears he believes that is a weakness of Laviolette too, as he called out the usage of the teams young players in response.
The young generation now, they all bring 1,000 skills. The young players have confidence, they skate, they work for it.

I know I am not a coach but I think that players have to play. You can't expect them to grow if they are playing three minutes a night. If a younger player shows he can contribute, he needs that chance.

It helps everybody, it helps the team.
This is a major shot from one of Laviolette's key players, and with the team seeing how he treats the younger players, it's safe to see why there's so much frustration around the organization.
Ultimately though, if the team miss the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2025, the team are much more likely to move on from Laviolette, but if the players continue to speak out like this, it appears he'll have no future in New York regardless.
