The Ottawa Senators made some news on Wednesday night by signing defenceman Jake Sanderson to a massive eight-year contract extension that'll pay him $8.05 million per season starting in 2024-25.

But going into the 2023-24 season, Senators General Manager Pierre Dorion still has some work to do as the organization has two restricted free agents to sign - Shane Pinto and Egor Sokolov.

According to Jimmy Murphy of Boston Hockey Now, the Bruins are expected to be interested in acquiring Shane Pinto, if the Senators turn their attention to moving the 22-year-old, especially give the fact the two sides are far apart in contract talks.

Murphy went on to add that a big reason for Pinto's name showing up in trade talks is because the Ottawa Senators reportedly prefer Ridly Greig over him. The cost to acquire Pinto also won't be cheap, as the Senators are reportedly looking for a prospect that's close to taking that next step and playing in the NHL, with Murphy mentioning John Beecher or Fabian Lysell.

Pinto, a native of Franklin Square, New York had a strong rookie season in the NHL during the 2022-23 campaign, putting up 35 points (20 goals, 15 assists), 18 penalty minutes and was a minus-21 in 82 games.
