The Ottawa Senators have announced a new addition to their roster ahead of the opening of training camp late next week.

On their X account, the Senators shared that they've signed 1,000+ game NHL veteran Josh Bailey to a professional tryout contract which will see him join the team for training camp and preseason games.

"Roster update: The #Sens have signed forward Josh Bailey to a professional tryout (PTO) contract." The Senators said.

Bailey, 33, has spent his entire career in the National Hockey League with the New York Islanders, but earlier this summer, he was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks for future considerations. Just hours after acquiring him, the Blackhawks bought out the final year of Bailey's contract, making him an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.

The Bowmanville, Ontario native appeared in 64 games during this 15th and final season with the Islanders where he put up 25 points (eight goals, 17 assists), two penalty minutes and was a plus-three.

Bailey and the Senators will open their preseason schedule on Sunday, September 25th at 2 p.m. ET against their provincial rivals, the Toronto Maple Leafs.
