When the Philadelphia Flyers and general manager, Daniel Briere learned that veteran goaltender Carter Hart had been implicated in the Hockey Canada scandal, it changed the franchise's plans completely. The team had plans for Haet to be their goalie now and in the future. His suspension clearly threw a wrench into their gears and planning.
As the season concluded, the Flyers finally agreed to terms to bring 27-year-old goaltending prospect Ivan Fedotov over from the KHL. Fedotov had famously been implicated in a military credential scandal that saw him sent to the Arctic circle as punishment. The goaltender was forced to sign and play out a KHL contract despite having an NHL deal in place.
This deal could work out heavily in the favor of the Flyers or could blow up in their faces. With a lack of experience and a lack of games played, it's hard to justify this move from the Flyers perspective. In limited action this season Fedotov posted a .811 save percentage and a 4.95 goals against average.
