John Tortorella wasn't happy with how Cutter Gauthier left the team last season, and now, he's made it clear that he won't be answering questions about the rookie.
Last season, the Philadelphia Flyers traded Cutter Gauthier after he forced his way off the team, with Head Coach John Tortorella clearly not happy with the way the entire situation unfolded.
Shortly after that, Gauthier liked videos on social media of
Sean Avery calling out the team, and it's safe to say that even a year later, there's still some hard feelings between the two parties.
Gauthier himself confirmed that he had this matchup circled on his calendar for quite some time, and when asked about that, Flyers Head Coach John Tortorella reacted exactly as you'd expect.
«I don't give a shit what he says. I'm not interested in answering any questions about Cutter Gauthier. I don't wish anything bad on the kid, I'm not going to answer any questions on it.»
Unsurprisingly, Tortorella isn't interested in discussing a player that's no longer with the team, and given that the Flyers are pushing for the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2024/25, they will simply be focused on taking down a very talented Anaheim Ducks team.
Since moving to Anaheim, Gauthier has made his NHL debut and registered 15 points in 34 games played with the Ducks thus far, as the 20-year old continues to adjust at the NHL level.
While Tortorella may not be wanting to address the situation, the fans certainly have it marked off on their calendar too, and given how much he insulted the team and the fanbase on the way out, we could be seeing this as a major rivalry for quite some time to come.
