Ron Hextall had 1-year remaining on contract that paid him $3.5M annually though his deal was backloaded.
Brian Burke is headed back to TV in Canada.
It's presumed that Burke will return to the hockey panel on Sportsnet for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Burke had been with the Penguins for just over two years as he was hired by the team on February 9th, 2021 before being let go earlier today.
One thing about Burke is that he never seems to be without a job for too long and always seems to land on his feet, wether that be in an executive role with a team or as a broadcaster.
At 67 years old, Burke doesn't look like he'll be slowing down anytime soon.
