Former first-round pick among seven placed on waivers on Thursday
As training camps continue around the National Hockey League, we've officially reached the ten day mark from the start of the 2023-24 season. That means that teams around the league are able to start putting players on waivers starting at 2 p.m. Eastern time.
A total of seven players were placed on waivers on Thursday afternoon including former first-round pick Ty Smith, who's currently with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Callahan Burke (Colorado)
Taylor Fedun (Pittsburgh)
Jonathan Gruden (Pittsburgh)
Xavier Ouellet (Pittsburgh)
Rem Pitlick (Pittsburgh)
Ty Smith (Pittsburgh)
Spencer Martin (Vancouver)
All seven players will be available to teams around the National Hockey League for the next 24 hours, with the waiver order being determined by the 2022-23 standings in reverse. Which means that the Anaheim Ducks have the first crack at placing a claim on any of these players.
If any players in the line above clear waivers on Friday afternoon, they'll be assigned to their respective team's American Hockey League affiliate.
