After a report came out late last week saying that Sidney Crosby was unsure about re-signing with the Pittsburgh Penguins, the future Hall of Famer squashed those rumours at the NHL Player Media tour in Vegas.
During an interview with Matt Larkin of Daily Faceoff on Monday, Sidney Crosby said that he's optimistic that a contract extension will be signed and announced by the time Pittsburgh opens their 2024-25 season on October 9th against the New York Rangers.
Crosby went on to say that while he's unsure how many years he has left as a professional hockey player, he's in a good place and is as excited to get to Pittsburgh for training camp as he was during his rookie season in 2005-06.
As Crosby enters his 20th season in the National Hockey League, all eyes will be on him as the Penguins look to return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2022. Despite being in his late-30s, Crosby isn't showing any signs of slowing down, registering back-to-back 90+ points campaigns, which is great news for a Penguins team looking to remain competitive.
