Logan Couture has been a stellar leader for the San Jose Sharks for a long, long time, but now it appears he's set to make a heartbreaking announcement.

Ever since he was drafted back in 2007, Logan Couture has been a key piece of the San Jose Sharks organization, and for the longest time, the Ontario native has repaid that faith in him as an exemplary member of the franchise.
He would go on to make his debut in 2009, and since that point he has been an amazing leader and a fantastic player, appearing in 933 regular season games and 116 Stanley Cup Playoffs games.
In that time, Couture has tallied an impressive 323 goals and 701 points, but unfortunately, he's struggled to stay on the ice in recent years, playing just six games over the past 24 months, and at 36-years of age, many expected his time to be up soon.
Now, according to Frank Seravalli, we are less than 24 hours from San Jose making that official, as he has revealed that the team are set to host a press conference on Tuesday to announce the retirement of their long time captain.
While he was always a battler on the ice, Couture simply can't keep up with all of the injuries he's sustained throughout his career, and with just those six games played since 2022/23, it just doesn't make sense for him to continue fighting it.
If this is the end, Couture will finish his career ranking fifth in games played, third in goals, fourth in points, as well as being top five in countless other categories, and while they could never quite get over the hump in his time with the team, he will go down as arguably the greatest player in franchise history.
This is a very sad end to a fantastic career, and if this does play out like this, we congratulate Couture on an amazing run in San Jose and hope the best for his future beyond the NHL.
