Another very prominent Vegas Golden Knight has decided to leave the team, this time signing a long term deal with the Seattle Kraken.

When you're a team that flies closer to the cap like the Vegas Golden Knights do, not being able to retain players becomes an issue. Another very important forward has signed elsewhere in free agency.

According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, forward Chandler Stephenson has signed a 7 year contract with the Seattle Kraken.

Chandler Stephenson 7 x around $6.25M Seattle

Stephenson, 30, played in 75 games for the Vegas Golden Knights last season scoring a total of 51 points including 16 goals and 35 assists.

This continues the trend of long term deals being handed out today with AAV's being on the higher side.

Seattle is getting a very good player, but in order to do that, they've been handing out contracts that are typically more expensive in nature.

Stephenson is a name that has been thrown around in rumours up to him signing a new deal though, so it's not surprising that a little bit of an over pay happened here.

We'll see if Seattle stops here or they add another piece or two, but overall, they've had a decent day
