When Brad Treliving was announced as a new general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, he made it clear that he was going to do everything possible to rebuild a team. Treliving has always put an emphasis on strong defensive play and during his time in Calgary built a very strong back end. It was obvious that while he tried to make moves last summer, he hadn't done enough for his team yet.

While rumors continue to swirl linking the Leafs to multiple different defenders, today the Leafs announced they'd signed 18-year-old draft pick Noah Chadwick to a contract.

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that the hockey club has signed defenceman Noah Chadwick to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Chadwick, was selected in the 6th round of last year's NHL Draft, has had a very good season this year. This season in 30 games Chadwick has 7 goals and 17 assists for the Lethbridge Hurricanes (WHL) this season.

Chadwick fits Treliving's mould perfectly standing at 6'4 and weighing 200-pounds. At the conclusion of his WHL season Chadwick will likely be loaned to the Toronto Marlies.
