Max Domi earns 17 minutes of penalties on one play
The Toronto Maple Leafs are playing the second game of a back to back which is tough enough on it own, but they also have the pleasure of facing one the hottest teams in the NHL currently in the Vancouver Canucks.
With the score 1-1 late in the first Canucks defenceman Ian Cole lays a clean but devastating hit on Toronto's Nick Robertson. Linemate Max Domi immediately came to Robertson's defence, dropping the gloves and challenging Cole to a fight.
Very few clean shots got through for either combatant as the pair were tied up very well. Eventually the refs jumped in to split things up. Unfortunately for the Leafs, Domi got the an extra two minutes for instigating. This was the second penalty Toronto received for instigating in the period, as Mark Giordano got the same punishment for fighting earlier.
Toronto suffered the same fate as Pius Sutter scored Vancouver's second power play goal of the game putting home a rebound past Leafs goalie Ilya Samsonov to take the lead 2-1.
The Leafs have since taken the lead 3-2.
