Anthony Stolarz Contract Talks Get a Massive Update from Leafs GM Brad Treliving
Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz is up for a contract extension, and general manager Brad Treliving has been hard at work crunching the numbers.
When the Toronto Maple Leafs signed Anthony Stolarz to a two-year, $5 million contract in the summer of 2024, no one expected him to have a breakout season.
Stolarz finished the season with a goals-against average of 2.14 and a save percentage of .926. Moreover, he had four shutouts, making him one of the best goalies in the league.
Had it not been for injuries, Stolarz could have willed the Maple Leafs to the Eastern Conference Finals. Furthermore, he could have been in contention for the Vezina.
Anthony Stolarz and the Toronto Maple Leafs are in talks
Yesterday, it was reported that Stolarz and the Leafs had officially entered contract extension talks, although there was very little information concerning the state of these negotiations.
On Tuesday, Leafs general manager Brad Treliving spoke to the media, and it was here that he was asked about the Stolarz negotiations.
Treliving was honest about the process, noting that he would love to get something done with the netminder, but there is no timetable on a potential deal.
Anthony has come in and been terrific. Really, he and Joseph (Woll) - if you look at any metric, I think they were as good a goaltending tandem as there was in the league. They were truly a backbone for us.
We've certainly had discussions with Anthony and his representative, and we'd love to find a way to get something done. If there's a situation both sides are comfortable with, we'll pursue it. Those conversations have been ongoing for some time, and we'll see what the coming days bring.

The Leafs are most likely looking for something short-term, while Stolarz will want both a raise and a long-term deal.
With Joseph Woll also on the roster, it will be fascinating to see how the goalie tandem plays out throughout the season.
If one thing is for certain, it is that Stolarz is coming into this campaign more motivated than ever before.
