Artem Zub's Suspension Fate Confirmed by NHL DoPS After Illegal Hit on John Tavares
Senators Defenseman Artem Zub has officially gotten away with his blatant elbow to John Tavares' head in game four of the battle of Ontario.
John Tavares has been all over the headlines for the Maple Leafs in their first-round matchup against their provincial rivals.
The former Leafs captain has three goals, including a game-winner, and five points through the first four games of the series.
He's also been at the center of a controversy as he took an elbow to the face in game four that went uncalled, leaving Leafs fans outraged.
Making matters worse is the fact that this was not the first time the veteran center took unwarranted abuse from the Senators.
In game one he was on the receiving end of a vicious cross-check that resulted in a Leafs powerplay.
Now that decision appears to be part of a larger trend as the NHL's Department of Player Safety has once again chosen not to hand out a suspension or even a fine for Zub's infraction.
Hopefully this trend will not continue as the playoffs proceed into the later rounds.
The league certainly is not helping themselves when it comes to the conspiracy theories of a bias against Toronto with decisions like this.
Luckily, Tavares seems no worse for wear and will continue to be a big part of the Leafs' success going forward.
Be sure to tune in for game five on Tuesday ay 7PM EST from Scotiabank Arena.
