Beloved Toronto Maple Leafs Role Player Vows to Retire with the Franchise
Playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs isn't for everyone, although for some NHL role players, being on a historic franchise is the absolute thrill of a lifetime.
Steven Lorentz joined the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Summer of 2024, following a championship-winning season with the Florida Panthers.
Unfortunately, the forward didn't feel like his talents were being utilized to their full potential in Florida. As a result, he found his way to Toronto, where he was immediately beloved by Craig Berube.
Lorentz became the team's most consistent fourth-liner, and this Summer, the forward was rewarded with a three-year contract extension.

Recently, the forward got to speak with Leafs media lead Ryan Leslie, where they discussed the new deal and how Lorentz is feeling these days.
Overall, the forward had a lot of good things to say about Toronto, and noted that he would love to finish off his career with the franchise.
I've got 3 more years here, and hopefully more after that. Like I said, I'd love to play here my whole career. But, it's definitely something I take a lot of pride in every single time, whether it's a practice jersey or a game jersey, pulling on that Maple Leaf and the blue and white.
This is refreshing to hear, especially when you consider how Mitch Marner completely left the franchise high and dry this past Summer.
There has been so much discourse about Toronto being a difficult place to play, although it seems clear to all of us that those who like it here really do love it.
Players like Lorentz are what you need more of on your roster. Hopefully, he continues to play his heart out for this Maple Leafs franchise.
Only time will tell what this season has in store for the forward, and if he can top his 19-point season from last year.
