Bobby McMann situation takes dramatic turn as NHL Player Safety makes a statement

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Bobby McMann was ejected against the Tampa Bay Lightning last night after he slashed Oliver Bjorkstrand across the head.
Bobby McMann got into it with Oliver Bjorkstrand at the end of last night's Maple Leafs victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
During the sequence, McMann slashed Bjorkstrand across the head, and while it looked accidental, the referees had no choice but to make a decision and toss the forward.
Since last night, there has been lots of speculation about what kind of punishment McMann would be facing, especially when you consider the nature of the slash.
Sure, Bjorkstrand was not injured, but that is not the point. At the end of the day, you can't go around slashing guys like that, and think you can get away with it.
NHL Depart of Player Safety makes an announcement regarding Bobby McMann
Leading to the notion that McMann will have to miss some action, the NHL Department of Player Safety put out a statement just moments ago.
In this statement, they revealed that McMann will have a hearing for the play. Typically, a hearing means some kind of punishment is coming.
Toronto's Bobby McMann will have a hearing today for high-sticking Tampa Bay's Oliver Bjorkstrand.
The Maple Leafs have been getting solid production out of McMann as of late. He has eight goals and 14 points this season, and he even had two goals against the Carolina Hurricanes.
If you are a fan of the Maple Leafs, you will be hoping that McMann is punished with a fine and nothing else. Although a slash to the head could yield something major.
For now, fans will simply have to wait and see what happens. NHL Player Safety has until 5 PM to make an offiical decision.
