Brad Treliving Delivers Strong Response to Mitch Marner's Claim About Toronto Maple Leafs Fans

Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving spoke out on Tuesday following a viral interview from Mitch Marner, who claimed he was stalked by fans.
Last week, Mitch Marner did a highly contentious interview with the media in which he noted that Maple Leafs fans harassed him at the end of most seasons.
After losing Game 7 to the Florida Panthers, Marner notes that things got even worse, and he was forced to hire security for two whole weeks.
Eventually, he left the Leafs for the Las Vegas Golden Knights, citing the fact that it was just the safest environment for himself and his family.

These comments have rubbed a lot of Toronto Maple Leafs fans the wrong way, and some are outright disagreeing with the forward. Others are even calling him a liar.
Recently, Leafs general manager Brad Treliving met up with reporter Eric Engels, who asked him to set the record straight.
This led to a strong response from Treliving, who notes that player safety is the number one priority for the Leafs organization, and that they took Marner's claims seriously.
In our business, your no. 1 priority is looking after your players, and I think we do a really good job of it. I don't have any concerns that we don't do everything humanly possible to make sure that they're looked after, but in today's world, you never take anything not seriously. In today's world-and it can go for Toronto, it can go for any market with social media-the lion's share of people can have good, honest discourse but there's always the ones that cross the line. It's unfortunate, but we always take every precaution necessary to make sure our guys are looked after.
Treliving also defended the fans, noting that every market has good fans, as well as bad fans. At the end of the day, the Leafs are no different than anyone else.
Leafs fans get a bad wrap sometimes, so it's good to see the general manager defend them, while also taking Marner seriously.
Only time will tell whether or not Marner's comments actually deter superstars from coming to Toronto.
