Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube was not happy last night, despite getting the big win against the Winnipeg Jets.
The Toronto Maple Leafs had a difficult game against the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday night, although, in the end, it was a victorious one.
In order to stay in the playoff fight, the Maple Leafs needed to win, and that is exactly what they did. It took them until overtime, where Max Domi put home the game-winning goal.
Unfortunately, in the eyes of Craig Berube, the team was getting hosed when it came to the officiating, and it led to him unleashing.
The Leafs are ranked last in the league when it comes to power play opportunities, so it should come as no surprise that the coach would be upset.
Craig Berube was upset with the referees
As soon as Domi scored and Berube was allowed on the ice to walk over to the dressing room, he started screaming at the officials.
While we cannot make out exactly what was said, there is no denying that Berube was mad about some of the bizarre calls that had been made.
It is coming down to the wire for the Maple Leafs, and their desperation to make the postseason is starting to become apparent.
With that in mind, the Leafs need the referees to be as objective as possible. If the ice is tilted too far in one direction, it could get ugly.
That said, Berube does need to be careful, as a negative reputation could make his life a whole lot worse going forward.
Only time will tell whether or not the Leafs can swing the officiating back in their favor, sooner rather than later.
