Auston Matthews trolls Winnipeg Jets fans, and his swagger has officially returned
Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews had a goal and an assist against the Winnipeg Jets, whose fans were not pleased with the superstar.
Auston Matthews was not a popular man in Winnipeg last night and for good reason as the Jets lost to the Maple Leafs in overtime.
Matthews had a beautiful goal during the game, and he also managed a massive assist on Max Domi's overtime winner.
Every time he touched the puck, he got booed by Jets fans, and it almost became obsessive. However, Matthews clearly doesn't care too much.
After the game, the captain was asked about the boos, and it led to a cocky answer that proves how his swagger has officially returned.
This is obviously very good news for Toronto Maple Leafs fans, as previously, it felt as though Matthews was permanently on the decline.
Now, he is playing some of his best hockey and is proving that he can do it without Mitch Marner being attached to his hip.
What's next for the Maple Leafs?
On Monday, the Maple Leafs are going to be playing against the Minnesota Wild, which is going to be a very good test for Auston Matthews and the Leafs.
With 24 goals in 42 games, Matthews is starting to play a whole lot better, and the fans could not be any happier about it.
He has scored a goal in the last two games, and he is creeping back up to a point-per-game pace. Only time will tell if he surpasses those averages this season.
Meanwhile, next month, Matthews will be heading off to Italy for the Winter Olympics, which will be another chance for him to show off his talents.
