Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander has been sensational so far this year, and after missing practice on Thursday, Craig Berube had to step in and comment.

Last night, William Nylander had himself a goal and an assist against the Columbus Blue Jackets. In fact, his goal was the overtime winner.
Nylander has been the overtime hero for the Leafs on more than just one occasion this season. With that in mind, it should come as no surprise that some see him as the team's MVP.
This weekend, the Leafs have two back-to-back games against the Washington Capitals and the Pittsburgh Penguins, and if one thing is for certain, it's that the Leafs need to be healthy.

William Nylander misses out on Toronto Maple Leafs practice

With that in mind, there was some concern at practice today, as William Nylander was missing. This immediately led to speculation about what was going on.
However, after practice, Leafs head coach Craig Berube spoke to the media and made it crystal clear that his forward is fine.
Don't worry. Nylander will be in the lineup against the Washington Capitals. He will play alongside John Tavares and hopefully, Easton Cowan.
The Cowan, Nylander, and Tavares line has been a huge bright spot for the Leafs, and it is clear they need to keep the train going.

William Nylander's stats jump off the page

This season, William Nylander already has 11 goals, 20 assists, and 31 points in 20 games. With those totals in mind, he is by far the best player on the Maple Leafs.
He has more than doubled Auston Matthews' points totals, who has 14 points in 18 games. It just goes to show that the tables have turned.
With all of this in mind, it is certainly good news that Nylander will be in the lineup on Friday against the Washington Capitals. The Leafs need offense, and Nylander gives them that.
