Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube was not pleased on Saturday night after his team lost in a shootout to the Montreal Canadiens.
Last night, the Montreal Canadiens got the best of the Toronto Maple Leafs by a score of 2-1 in a shootout. It was a tough game, with Dennis Hildeby carrying the Leafs.
Meanwhile, the Leafs got a goal from Scott Laughton, who is currently in the midst of a three-game scoring streak, against all odds.
The Leafs had their three-game winning streak broken, although they will certainly be happy to pick up a point as the Atlantic Division gets tighter than ever.
Craig Berube explains the Maple Leafs' loss
After the game, Leafs head coach Craig Berube spoke about the team's performance and how he believes the loss can be chalked up to one reason, in particular.
As Berube noted, the real problem was the fact that the Maple Leafs kept missing so many shots on net, which did them no favors.
Missed the net like 15 times. At least. I think that's the number. Good opportunities too. We got to hit the net on those opportunities.
With the loss, the Leafs now have a record of 13-11-4, and are fifth in the Atlantic Division. Just last week, they were dead last.
On Monday, the Leafs are back in action against the Tampa Bay Lightning, and there is no denying that this will be a very difficult game to win.
If the Leafs can start stringing some wins together before Christmas, they could very well find themselves in a playoff spot.
However, it is not going to be an easy proposition. No matter how you swing it, the Leafs are in a very tough position right about now.
