Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Chris Tanev has been out for about a month with a concussion after taking a hit from Philadelphia Flyers forward Matvei Michkov.
Chris Tanev has been one of the best defensemen on the Toronto Maple Leafs over the past year or so, but at 35, he has proven to be injury-prone.
Earlier this season, Tanev suffered a concussion in a game against the New Jersey Devils. In his first game back from that concussion, he was taken off the ice on a stretcher after being laid out by Philadelphia Flyers forward Matvei Michkov.
Tanev has been out of the Toronto Maple Leafs lineup since that fateful day, and there has been very little by way of good news involving the forward.
The defenseman was at morning skate, and while he was wearing a no-contact jersey, it at least felt as though Tanev was making progress towards a return.
Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube spoke to the media about Tanev, and he noted that the defenseman would be evaluated this week.
The Leafs are hoping for good news. If that is what they get, then Tanev will be able to expedite his return to the ice, which is very good news.
