Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson was taken out of the lineup tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning, and Craig Berube has an explanation.
Tonight, Nick Robertson is not playing against the Tampa Bay Lightning, and this has led to a lot of frustration amongst Leafs fans.
While playing on the first line, Robertson was finally showing what he can do, only to be replaced by a struggling Max Domi, who is less deserving.
Since joining the fourth line, Robertson has gone back to struggling, and now, he is out of the lineup, and Calle Jarnkrok is taking his place.
It's not a fair predicament for the forward, and it is exactly why he has spent most of his time looking to be traded out of the franchise.
Craig Berube talks Nick Robertson
At morning skate on Monday, Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube spoke to the media, and it was here that he was asked about Robertson.
While Berube acknowledged that the forward was good on the first line, the coach thinks his player has been taking it easy since being demoted.
Berube wanted to send a message to Robertson, but believes that the forward is going to be back in the lineup in due time.
Robertson and his head coach have not always seen eye to eye, and it feels like that is coming out all over again, which is frustrating to see.
The forward is a good player, and he deserves better than what is happening right now, especially when plenty of teams would love to have him.
Only time will tell whether or not Robertson can get back in the lineup, and make Berube look silly for his latest move.
