Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll was the victim of a terrible performance from his team against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night.

Going into tonight's game against the Montreal Canadiens, the Leafs had lost six of their last seven games. In fact, the Canadiens were in the exact same situation.
Both teams needed a win, yet only one of these teams has come out to play. That team just so happens to be the Canadiens, as the Leafs have been awful.
In the middle of the second period, the score is 4-0 in favor of the Canadiens, and the Leafs have had one of their worst defensive performances of the season.
The second period was an awful look for the defense, as Joseph Woll was peppered with shots. He stood his ground, but unfortunately, the dam continued to break.

Toronto Maple Leafs pull Joseph Woll

After facing 25 shots in 30 minutes, Leafs head coach Craig Berube decided to pull Woll. However, it should be noted that this fate was not Woll's fault.
The goaltender was doing his best. Berube made the decision to get his team together. It was a mercy pull as Woll was being unfairly treated by his own teammates.
At the end of the day, the Toronto Maple Leafs need to be better than this. They cannot continue playing at such a low level that their biggest rivals are blowing them out by a score of 4-0.
In fact, you could argue that this is the team's worst performance of the season so far. It is absolutely disgraceful, and something needs to change, sooner rather than later.
This is the kind of performance that could get players demoted and coaches fired. While that sounds dramatic, it's clear that Leafs ownership will not tolerate these results.
The Leafs have a lot of soul-searching to do, and only time will tell whether or not they can weather the storm and get back on track.
