Toronto Maple Leafs ownership, MLSE, is not happy with how the team is playing, and this could cost people like Brad Treliving and Craig Berube their jobs.
In case you haven't already noticed, the Leafs are playing terribly to start the season, and are seventh in the Atlantic Division.
Tonight, they have an opportunity to change that against the Montreal Canadiens. However, with all of the injuries going around, a win is not guaranteed.
Throughout all of this, there has been heavy chatter about Craig Berube and Brad Treliving, who have not done their best work so far this season.
Some believe they are on the hot seat, and with MLSE CEO Keith Pelley showing himself to be aggressive, there is no telling what might happen next.
MLSE is not shy about cleaning out the Toronto Maple Leafs
In fact, a new report from James Mirtle suggests MLSE is not opposed to cleaning house and firing everyone if the season goes off the deep end.
Mirtle believes that if it's one of those seasons where the team misses the postseason, then firings could happen fast.
You got a new, reshaped ownership group coming in, and the heat is dialled up on everybody in this organization; if it's a brutal season...I think a lot of people are gone in the organization
The season would have to be truly disastrous for that to happen, although you never really know how things can develop so quickly.
If there is one thing for certain, it is that the Maple Leafs are a team in need of some good news, or maybe just some wins.
The season is only 21 games old. A lot can change very fast. At least Berube and Treliving hope this is the case.
