Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander suffered an injury against the Ottawa Senators, and now, his status against the Detroit Red Wings is up in the air.
Saturday night was a mixed bag for the Toronto Maple Leafs as they defeated the Ottawa Senators by a score of 7-5.
Defensively, the Leafs weren't particularly compelling. Not to mention, William Nylander suffered an injury that kept him out for most of the game.
It appeared as though he tweaked something in his lower body, which led to him leaving the game out of an abundance of caution, only to be ruled out later on.
With the Leafs looking to take on the Detroit Red Wings tonight, there has been some reasonable concern that Nylander would not be good to go for tonight.
William Nylander injury update
After the game, Leafs head coach Craig Berube spoke to the media, and it was here that he offered up an update on Nylander.
As you will read, Nylander is going to Detroit with the Leafs on Sunday. While his status is still up in the air, he is making the trip, and that is something to celebrate.
He's coming on the trip, so that's a good sign. Lower body right now, we'll see how he is tomorrow.
This is the update that Maple Leafs fans were probably hoping for. However, we still expect the Maple Leafs to sit Nylander out of an abundance of caution.
Easton Cowan was a healthy scratch last night, and could certainly be the guy to come in and replace him for at least a couple of games.
Whatever the case may be, the Leafs have won two in a row, and this is the kind of momentum the team needs, going forward.
