Toronto Maple Leafs rookie Easton Cowan has struggled at times this season, and it has forced the team to make a difficult decision with his linemates.

Easton Cowan's rookie season with the Toronto Maple Leafs has come with some highs, but it has also come with some lows.
For now, it feels as though Cowan has secured a permanent spot in the lineup, although it remains to be seen which line he will settle in on.
Over the last few weeks, the rookie has found himself on the second line with William Nylander and John Tavares. While this has worked out at times, the forward is now in a slump.
In the last three games, Cowan has zero points. Tavares and Nylander haven't been as productive either, and some conversations need to be had.

After a point-less night against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night, some fans on social media are getting frustrated with Craig Berube's insistence on keeping Cowan on the second line.
"I like Easton Cowan, but he's just not fitting in with 88 and 91," one fan wrote. "Obvious to everyone except this idiot coach."
For the most part, fans believe it would be smarter to put Nick Robertson on that line. While playing in the top six, Robertson had his best stretch as a Leaf.
Meanwhile, Cowan showed tremendous chemistry with guys like Steven Lorentz and Scott Laughton during the preseason.
Berube loves to keep his lineups the same when the team is winning. However, after a loss to the Canadiens, it remains clear that the Leafs can make a change.
If they don't make a change, then there are going to be some upset fans out there. Something has got to give eventually.
