The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to do business during the NHL Trade Deadline, and Brandon Carlo is proving to be effective trade bait right now.
Brandon Carlo is a player who has certainly been given some major chances to succeed with the Toronto Maple Leafs over the past couple of seasons.
For the most part, he has been inconsistent, although some attribute this to the difficulties of playing alongside Morgan Rielly.
Whatever the case may be, the Toronto Maple Leafs have a whole lot to figure out over the coming days and even weeks.
The NHL trade deadline is on the horizon, and the expectation is that Carlo is going to be used as trade bait for a little while.
Edmonton Oilers looking at Brandon Carlo
It is not an easy situation for Carlo and the Maple Leafs, especially since Carlo has made it clear that he wants to stay in Toronto.
However, according to Elliotte Friedman, the Leafs might just have something to say about that as the Edmonton Oilers are showing some interest.
It’s interesting too because I heard some talk that they might be interested in a guy like Brandon Carlo.
The Oilers have had some goaltending and defensive issues as of late, and Carlo could certainly help out as a veteran on the back end.
As of right now, the Oilers fancy themselves as Stanley Cup contenders, and that means they are going to try to obtain some players.
If the Oilers do acquire someone like Carlo, then the return is going to have to justify the means. Needless to say, there is pressure on Brad Treliving to negotiate properly.
