Elliotte Friedman Reveals the Toronto Maple Leafs' Ambitious Plans for Jack Roslovic
Jack Roslovic has been linked to the Toronto Maple Leafs all Summer long, and while nothing has gotten done, Elliotte Friedman seems to have some information.
Throughout the summer, the Toronto Maple Leafs have been looking at a plethora of free agent options, including Jack Roslovic.
After a 22-goal campaign with the Carolina Hurricanes, Roslovic still hasn't received a contract, and some are wondering if he will play NHL hockey this season.
Meanwhile, the Leafs still have some cap space to use up, and there are fans out there who would like to see the team take a swing.
Will the Toronto Maple Leafs sign Jack Roslovic?
According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the Maple Leafs were looking at him quite closely and had a very ambitious plan for the forward.
Essentially, the team was interested in playing him on the first line with Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies. That's right, he would be Mitch Marner's replacement.
A guy like Jack Roslovic, I think Toronto was looking at him...potentially as a winger on the number one line
While Roslovic is a fine player, his career high in points is 45, which is less than half of what Mitch Marner put up this past season.
It is hard to believe that the Toronto Maple Leafs would just sign him to a short-term deal and immediately put him on the first line.
That said, stranger things have happened in the National Hockey League, and you have to give the Leafs some credit for thinking outside the box.
For now, it remains to be seen whether or not Jack Roslovic gets another opportunity at NHL glory.
